Granada is a city full of history and culture. The city is home to the famous Alhambra, a palace and fortress complex built by the Moors. On the journey, I made acquaintance with another traveller who was a Couch Surfer and plans later on to meet with another Couch Surfer to explore the city. We were lucky to get a free Flamengo show in the city centre as part of Granada’s cultural celebration.
The next morning, it was time to visit Alhambra- a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Spain. The palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens and offers stunning views of the city. The palace is also home to several museums, including the Palace of Charles V, which showcases the history of the palace and the city. Nasrid Palace and gardens form the heart of Alhambra. Tickets need to be purchased as they get sold out months in advance.
When In Granada, one should visit the oldest district of Albaicin. A district to just walk and explore.
If time permits visit Alcaiceria- a shopping alley lined with Moroccan souks.
